What’s New?

It’s been way too long since I have posted updates to this site. So, what’s new??

Well, for one thing there is a new member of the Peters household. Caleb Reed Peters was born on April 18th. The “big kids” are very excited about their little brother. But, as you can imagine, things are pretty crazy lately. So, not quite so much time for blog posts. The above picture is Emma holding her new baby brother. For more baby pictures, head on over to our family blog.

And work has been pretty busy as well. Never mind the fact that Hertz announced that they were going to acquire us. Then, only a week later Avis announced that they would pay even more. Day to day work hasn’t really changed at all since then, it’s all business as usual. But I have been in the middle of several big projects that have been keeping me very busy.

So, things are crazy right now, but more blog posts are coming. I’m working on at least one more post in my Software Estimation series, and I have posts started on several other subjects.

Daddy and Emma Time

So, this afternoon Emma and I practiced playing..

The piano. She learned that different keys made different noises.

The guitar. She learned not to bang on the string!

And chess.. She learned that Daddy’s pieces are gold and her’s are silver.

The story of Randy Pausch has really gotten me to thinking… If I only had 6 months to live, what would I attempt to teach Emma and Christopher to prepare them for the rest of their lives? I’m going to be doing a lot of pondering over that question in the coming weeks and then determine what I’m going to do now. Because, we really don’t know how long we have…

Surely not really dead.. right??

So, I’m almost through season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. Yeah, I know I’m slow; I seemed to have lost interested towards the beginning of this season, but I’m getting back in it. I can’t believe [that person] was killed! [He|She|It] is dead like Gandalf, not dead like Sirius, right? Surely she’s not really dead….

Ok, I have everything migrated now from my LiveJournal account, so I think I’m all ready to roll here. So far I’m loving the Word Press interface. It seems that I can do a lot more things over here that I could not do at Live Journal. Hopefully that will motivate me to write more often

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

We got our first snow of the year this week — almost a foot at our house!! We took Emma out in it several times, but she didn’t like it very much. She would cry every time we put her down. But she figured it was OK to look at from a distance. One of these days I’m sure she’ll love the snow!

One good thing about all the snow was that I was able to work from home on Thursday and Friday. It’s amazing how much more productive I am working from home instead of going in to the office. Much fewer interuptions… and that’s with a toddler running around!

We’re watching the Big XII Championship right now, and we tought Emma what to do when there is a touchdown…
